First off, I need to say a HUGE thank you to some people: my visiting teacher, my sisters and brother and brother-in-law and their patient kids who had one parent gone most of the two days to help us, and especially Scott's parents. We were able to pack and move in two days and we left the suite empty and cleaned.
My emotions are mixed as we start this new stage;
I lived in Edmonton a lot growing up and after that as a young adult, and everyone knows that rivalry... I don't know how much I like all the flames fans and memorabilia all over the place. Also, we were close to family in Lethbridge, maybe not my parents but Scott's parents and brother and many of my siblings and seven of the twelve nieces and nephews. It was nice to be able to go to the Robison's every weekend and visit. We could walk to my sister's and bike to my brother's or even my other sister (who has since moved away, too). It was nice to be able to know where we were going at all times and how little time it would take us to get there. We could bike around the city without to much worry that we may get hit by a car. We lived there for years and it was home.
Now we live in a BIG city, where it takes over an hour to get from one side of town to the other, where we have no immediate family, and hardly know anyone (I know a few girls but Scott know's no one). It's a little scary to bike and we wore our helmets, which we didn't so much in Lethbridge.
But I have to look for good things, too.
We are no longer working for Transglobe!!! We aren't being told ten different ways to do one thing and that everything we do is wrong.
The place we live is bigger, has a fire place and a big spare room for company (hint hint)
We are literally 2 Km from more shopping than we seemed to have in all of Lethbridge, including a running room :)
We have laundry in the house, so we no longer have to bother Scott's parents with our laundry every weekend. we have curb-side recycling that actually gets recycled.
There is a lot more space in the bathroom, with lots of drawers and a huge mirror!! We can both be in the bathroom using the mirror and counter at the same time!!
It's cheap, cheaper than anything we have seen in Calgary, other than Calgary housing who won't let us in because we don't have children.
We are in a great area of town with lake access and other community amenities. We are also close to the edge of town, for when we want to visit our family and closer to my parents than we have been in a long time.
We are done our first degrees and moving onto the next stage in our schooling, one more year for me and two for Scott! Neither of us could take this schooling in Lethbridge.
So in the end, there are still mixed emotions, but I want to look at the positives and hope for the best!
